Note; A basic Temperature Thermostat simply switches a heater to full power until the your set temperature is achieved. It then switches the heater off completely until the temperature drops below the one you have set it to. The basic Temperature Thermostat will again deliver full power and the cycle starts over again so your heat lamp is frequently being switched on and off. This will significantly reduce the life of your heat lamp. The gap between the heater being switched on and then off is called hysteresis. It is between these points that the accuracy of the controller is assessed. The Dimming Thermostat controls electricity to the heater, so provided you fit a Dimming Thermostat,  your reptile will have a consistent temperature and you will extend the life of your heat lamp.
